Last week, libraries across the nation celebrated Read Across America Day and libraries around the world celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Our Read Across America Day visitors were organized by Dona Ana County Community & Constituent Services Office. The guest readers came to us from the Las Cruces Volunteer Network.
I divided our students into three groups based on each classes schedule. One reader read The Sneetches to the first group. The second reader read The Lorax to the other two groups. Dona Ana County received a grant to provide pencils and erasers for each student as well as several books to add to our school library.
The student gifts arrived in a wrapped box and the students had fun opening the boxes.
We are thankful to Dona Ana County for allowing us to participate each year.
