A FEW MOMENTS WITH ANDY ANDREWS
When did you first know you wanted to be an author?
Not until well into adulthood. Actually, I wasn’t the best writer in my senior English class!
When you are not writing, what other hats do you wear? What do you do for fun?
I speak and work with corporations and teams, do a podcast every week—The Professional Noticer—and spend time with my family. I love to fish so My boys and I spend a lot of time on the water!
What historical figure do you admire and why?
Winston Churchill is a favorite. He wasn’t afraid to tell the truth and could inspire people as well.
What in your background brought you to the writing of this book?
A lot of reading. I enjoy WWII history, but was bothered by the thousands of people peacefully loading their families onto trains. Why didn’t the run? Or fight. How the Nazis pulled it off is chilling.
What research did you do for this book?
A lot of reading and following clues left in diaries. It took me tens times more days to research the book than to actually write it!
Because I am a K-12 school librarian I have to ask – what is your favorite children’s book?
The Kid Who Changed The World!
Every year I organize a Young Authors Day for the kids at our school. What advice would you give to a child who wants to be a writer?
Become an expert at noticing the details of a scene you are creating.
